Stone Cutting

The last part of our gem mining experience is to take your order to turn the rough stones that you find into precious colored gems for making attractive jewelry.

This process is known as the art of lapidary and is the basis of our founder’s original passion for working with rough gem stones, and was the motivation for opening Foggy Mountain Gem Mine. Our knowledgeable staff will assist you in deciding on which gem cut you want for setting into jewelry. This is a truly amazing process which most families enjoy learning about as they decide on what type of jewelry they want us to make for them.

Foggy Mountain Gem Mine offers a first class stone cutting service to our customers. Once you have enjoyed our mining experience and discovered the rough stones in your bucket of choice, our trained staff will help you sort and identify your finds. Since we specialize in the art of lapidary (turning stones into gems), we will then advise you on which of your stones are the best to polish and cut into gems for making attractive jewelry. We will then take your order to create custom pieces of jewelry which will last a lifetime. Our stone cutting services are also available for rough stones that you might already have. These services are offered on a per quote basis.
